Photo of flowers A fluid inside/outside relationship is integral to the project, with sliding doors, consciously placed windows (for light, air, and view), ample decks, and a supplemental roof deck. This interior/exterior spatial relationship is essential given the project's economical space. The intention was to project a feeling of expansion from the inside by providing a strong visual and physical connection to the greater outdoors.

Adjacent to the house on both the north and south, a modular deck design was chosen for both ease of construction and adaptation to the surrounding environment. The gridded layout reflects the established rhythm of the exterior finish materials on the house. The decks support the native, seasonal, and culinary potted plantings.
