The Solar CalPoly project is built upon a structural steel "chassis" or
frame, similar to those used in the mobile home industry. Originally the
chassis had its own wheels but due to combined travel distance and
weight issues in order to get from California to Washington, D.C., the
team opted to use only the steel frame for the project's foundation. The
house will be hauled by a semi stretch low-boy trailer.
Initial plumbing and electrical wiring are stubbed in. The frame is
insulated with icynene foam and sheathed.
